Polperro is one of the most popular places
in Cornwall and is without doubt one of the prettiest, being a traditional
cornish fishing village. The village is set within a steep valley,
with the River Pol running through the centre. There is a car park
at the top of the village. Either take the long walk down the hill through
Polperro to the harbour or take the horse drawn cart/buggy service which
is available every 5 minutes or so. There are lots of surprises amongst
this village of colour-washed cottages and twisting streets- the Saon and
Roman bridges, the famous House On Props and the ancient Watch House.
There is a protected inner harbour filled with an array of colourful boats.
Still a working fishing village but tourism remains the main source of
income.
